Murawin is a national consultancy committed to social justice and empowerment of First Nations communities and other marginalised groups. Our organisation works across a wide range of policy areas that directly affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. Implementing our Barri Marruma methodology, we specialise in three core service areas: Social Impact & Engagement, Research & Evaluation,
and Place Strategy.
Murawin works with clients across all sectors including corporate, government, private, non-profit, and more, to provide meaningful engagement and consultation built on the foundation and practice of deep and active listening. We are committed to helping our clients navigate the complexities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures whilst working genuinely, respectfully, and effectively with Indigenous communities.
Founded by Dunghutti woman Carol Vale and the late Greg McKenzie, Murawin, at its core is rooted in intercultural collaboration, mutual respect, and reconciliation - with the mission to create impact by breaking cycles of disadvantage and amplifying initiatives that contribute to economic and social empowerment.
Driven by passion, expertise, and commitment, Murawin’s diverse team bring a wealth of experience, cultural knowledge, and empathy to our work that allows us to be the conduit between our clients and First Nations communities. From there our collective skillsets enable Murawin to deliver constructive, contextual, and creative solutions to our clients, communities and projects that live up to our values of – create impact, innovative change, diversity delivers and aim higher.
In addition to our core services, Murawin runs its philanthropic arm – The Morning Sky Initiative
– with the goal to empower First Nation women and girls to identify and solve their own challenges, transform lives, and drive inclusive growth through healing, education, innovation, and social entrepreneurship.
Respect, presence and a genuine commitment to learning is vital to all Murawin’s work. This ethos is central to reconciliation and helps us to understand what clients and communities want and need for each project, so that we can deliver value adding outcomes that push the status quo and move forward to a better future together.
