Empowering Queer South Asians
Trikone Australia is a social-support organisation for LGBTIQ+ people of South Asian descent in Australia.
Founded in 2007, Trikone Australia is a non-profit, volunteer-led social-support organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) people of South Asian descent living in Australia.
Through small and large-scale events (such as picnics, movie nights, panel discussions, Bollywood dance parties, theatre productions and Mardi Gras floats), we offer a supportive, empowering and non-judgmental platform, where LGBTIQ+ South Asians can meet, connect and proudly promote awareness and acceptance of their sexuality in society.
Trikone Australia actively works against all forms of oppression based on race, gender, religion, class, sexual orientation and other identities.
South Asians affiliated with Trikone Australia trace their ethnicities to one of the following nations: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Fiji, India, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tibet.
