The United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) is the peak civil society organisation connecting Australians to the work of the United Nations, informing, inspiring and engaging people across the country to create a safer, fairer and more sustainable world.
As custodians of the UN name and emblem in Australia, and one of 22 founding members of the World Federation of United Nations Associations, UNAA sits at the heart of a global peoples' movement. Through over 150 events a year, national policy and advocacy, and networks spanning young professionals, academics, alumni and parliamentarians, UNAA brings Australian citizens and leaders into meaningful connection with the UN's most urgent work.
UNAA's Strategy 2030 is built around three commitments: the world we want, defined by the SDGs, the Declaration of Human Rights and UN treaties; the UN we need, fit for purpose in a rapidly changing world; and the role we play ensuring more Australians are engaged global citizens, and that Australia takes a proactive leadership role in the multilateral system.
UNAA works across the themes of human rights, environmental stewardship, ethical economy and good governance, and is home to networks on peace and security, gender equality, climate change, and the rights of First Peoples. Now, as Australia assumes the COP31 presidency, UNAA's role in convening these conversations has never been more important.
