Welcome to Urban Guerrillas! Our intention for this group is to inspire and create passionate communities who care about the environment and actively want to see change around the neighbourhoods. We are a group of individuals who have come together to bring about change for our environment. We strive to reintroduce and restore Indigenous biodiversity back into urban landscapes and while doing so, invite and encourage young community members, of all ability and background, to take part and learn about their local environment.
With the help of Melbourne Water, Yarra River Keeper, Boroondara Council, Whitehorse Council we have successfully landed grants to help restore two sections along the Gardiner's creek corridor in Glen Iris and Burwood.
This is an up and coming group and we need all the people power we can get to keep our ecosystems healthy.
Urban Guerrillas acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people as the Traditional Owners and original custodians of this land. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present. Always was, and Always Will be Aboriginal Land.
Our vision is bringing community together and building from the ground up so that we can make a strong impact in todays rapidly changing climate, and encourage everyone to reflect on the ancient land we all stand on!
