Our Commitment
Waikato Young Professionals (WYP) is a community built on connection, growth, and integrity.
We’re here to create a safe, inclusive, and professional environment where young professionals can learn, collaborate, and thrive.
By attending a WYP event or engaging with our community, you agree to uphold the standards set out in this Code of Conduct.
1. Be Professional
WYP events are professional networking spaces. We expect all participants to:
Act with integrity, honesty, and respect.
Conduct themselves appropriately when representing themselves, their company, or WYP.
Avoid any behaviour that could damage WYP’s reputation or the experience of others.
2. Respect Others
We’re an inclusive community that values diversity and respect.
Please:
Treat everyone with courtesy and professionalism.
Avoid harassment, discrimination, or any behaviour that could make others feel unsafe or unwelcome.
Respect personal boundaries and differing perspectives.
3. Conduct at Events
To maintain a safe and enjoyable environment:
Drink responsibly and be mindful of your conduct.
Refrain from inappropriate, lewd, or disruptive behaviour — including nudity or sexually suggestive acts.
Use event facilities (like photo booths or social walls) respectfully and appropriately.
Follow any directions from WYP organisers or venue staff.
4. Representation & Social Media
You represent not only yourself but also your employer and the WYP community.
Please ensure:
Communications and social posts reflect WYP’s values.
Content shared from events is respectful and suitable for a professional audience.
Confidential or sensitive information is not shared without consent.
5. Health & Safety
We want all attendees to feel safe and supported.
If you witness or experience unsafe or inappropriate behaviour, please notify a WYP Committee Member as soon as possible.
6. Breaches of Conduct
WYP takes breaches of this Code seriously.
Depending on the situation, action may include:
A verbal or written warning,
Immediate removal from an event, or
Suspension or exclusion from future WYP events.
The WYP Committee reserves the right to act as needed to protect our community and its values.
7. Acceptance
By attending a WYP event or engaging with our activities, you acknowledge and agree to this Code of Conduct.
