For children and teenagers growing up in the digital age, focussing on the present moment is virtually impossible and the steep rise in anxiety, depression, loneliness and more is unsurprising. This is why we were delighted to hear about the Wait Mate movement which has been working to empowers parents to hit pause on smartphones until, at least, high school (the later the better). Co-Founded by a group of primary school parents, Wait Mate’s vision is to allow kids to be kids for longer - to slow down growing up.
Join families from Northern NSW communities for one night only. We will hear from a Wait mate co-founder and a clinical psychologists who will shed light on the issue and provide a solution for us to follow!
Parents can pledge on waitmate.org.au, and once ten families in a school cohort do the same, the pledge activates and aligned parents are connected. Strength in numbers is critical to shift the norm and make it easier for families to give kids their childhood’s back - join us to hear more!
