The "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" (WAMIMS) event is community initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds for mental health. It's a project of the TreeHaus clinics, founded by Justine Brogna and is supported by a group of WAMIMS commitee members. The WAMIMS project endeavours to host a public event every October to coincide with Mental Health Month. Participants are encouraged to wear green in support of mental health awareness. A regular event of the walk a mile intitive is to engage the public in a one-mile walk along The Strand foreshore in Williamstown, starting and ending at Commonwealth Reserve. The event features various activities, including yoga sessions, live song and dance performances, children's sports clinics, food and drinks stalls and information stalls from local mental health services. Funds raised are directed towards establishing well-being hubs in schools predominantly across Victoria but also nationally, to support children and adolescents experiencing anxiety and other emotional challenges.
