WestPhil (or Western Sydney Philharmonic in full) aims to bring students and top professional performers together, to learn from each other and to create thrilling, dynamic and memorable performances.
What started off as an idea to give the young people of western Sydney an opportunity to learn and play beautiful music, is now WestPhil - Western Sydney's very own orchestra.
We do this through youth-oriented camps culminating in performances that captivate our audiences, as well as other one-off performances and events. And because we're a not-for-profit entity, all the money we make is put back into West Phil for the benefit of young, potential musicians of western Sydney and elsewhere.
WestPhil is an independent, community-based, not-for-profit organisation limited by guarantee. It is also a registered charity in New South Wales and is listed on the federal Register of Cultural Organisations eligible to receive tax-deductible donations.
WestPhil operates with dedicated volunteers, and a team of music professionals who support our work. We exist through the generosity of corporate sponsors and private citizens plus the income we derive from entry fees and ticket sales.
We maintain close ties with other arts organisations across Australia and are constantly on the look out for performance opportunities for our young and developing music students.
