Women in Film & Television Australia (WIFT Australia) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to achieving gender equality in the Australian screen industry through advocacy, education, and support for all women and non-binary screen industry practitioners. Our feminism is intersectional. Our vision is for a powerful, joyful, well-resourced, and safe screen community where all women and gender diverse people are equally free to thrive, lead and create.
WIFT Australia operates nationally with a presence in all states and territories and provides a number of programs, events, and initiatives throughout the year. This includes the Raising Films Australia initiative to support parents and carers, mentoring programs, screenings, networking events, training workshops, and panel discussions (both online and in-person).
WIFT Tasmania was formed in 2018 as a chapter of the newly formed national organisation WIFT Australia. There had not previously been an official WIFT presence in the state.
