Supporting Survivors, Building Futures

Welcome to Women Up North, a dedicated service for women, children, and young people in Northern NSW who have experienced domestic or family violence or abuse. Based in the Northern Rivers, our reach extends from Grafton to Tweed Heads, offering a safe haven and comprehensive support to those in need.

Our Values

  • Respect and Safety: We uphold the right of women and children to live with respect and safety, free from violence and abuse.
  • Empowerment: Our commitment is to empower women towards independence, fostering self-determination and the ability to reach their full potential.
  • Cultural Inclusiveness: We honor the experiences of Aboriginal women and children, celebrating cultural diversity and inclusiveness in all our services.

Our Focus

For over 30 years, Women Up North Housing has proudly supported the communities of Lismore and its surroundings. Our extensive experience and understanding are dedicated to helping you achieve a brighter future.

Our Services

Women Up North operates across the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales, with our head office located in Lismore. We serve the Local Government Areas (LGA) of Byron, Ballina, Lismore, Kyogle, and Clarence Valley, providing essential services in these regions and their neighboring villages.

As a member of the Northern NSW Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) consortium, led by Momentum Collective, we offer specialized services to Aboriginal communities and tailored support for women and children affected by domestic and family violence, from Tweed to Grafton. Funded by Family and Community Services NSW and supported by grants, donations, and partnerships, we provide a range of beneficial supports including:

  • Case Management: Personalized support to help navigate the path to safety and independence.
  • Group Work: Facilitated group sessions designed to empower and educate.
  • Innovative Programs: Tailored programs addressing specific needs and fostering resilience.

Our professional partnerships with regional service providers enhance our ability to offer comprehensive information and supported referrals to additional services across NSW and Australia.

Acknowledgment of Country

Women Up North Housing acknowledges the Bundjalung Nation and the Widjubul, Arakwal, Gumbayngirr, and Yaegl peoples, who are the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and walk.
