Gather around for a foot-stompin’ jamboree with Woody Campfire, country music’s cheekiest larrikin.
His infectious ukulele rhythms underpin a powerful dinkum tenor voice - brought home with his wicked sense of humour. Woody’s shows see him mix up original country tunes with unforgettable, off-kilter covers of everything from classic country to pop anthems and show tunes.
Possessed of a voice in the storytelling tradition of John Williamson and Slim Dusty, and the sharp comedic reflexes of Norman Gunston and the Doug Anthony Allstars, Woody’s performances are laugh-out-loud shindigs. His disarming way with audiences means he doesn’t just leave them laughing and humming along - usually he ends each night with a gaggle of new best mates.
His irreverent showmanship is backed up by serious musical chops. Woody is the stage name of award-winning Edinburgh Fringe comedian and musician Tomás Ford, whose two decades of songwriting and showmanship have found their natural home in his unique take on country music.
Woody’s shows have been hits at festivals including Tamworth Country Music Festival, Fringe World, Kalgoorlie Pride and Perth International Cabaret Festival. Each month, he draws a cult following tho his regular Woody Campfire’s Songwriters’ Bonfire at the Fremantle Buffalo Club.
You can also see Woody online - details of his regular performances on TikTok Live and Growlr are available on his social media.
His first EP Woody Campfire And His Splendid Lil’ Songbook is out now, the first in a series of EPs to be released this year.
You can catch Woody busking in small towns and lighting up venues across the country. If you spot a crowd circled around a glowing (fake) campfire, pull up a chair - it’s sure a night to remember.
