House Tours 2026

Explore the lives of turn-of-the-century Washingtonians on a tour of the historic home of brewer and immigrant Christian Heurich. Step back in time to the year 1894, and see things from the eyes of household staff, Heurich brewery workers, the craftspeople who built his home, the brewer himself, and his wife Amelia.

RULES

• Pre-registration only, no walk-ins

• No children under 10 years of age    

Afterwards, grab a Senate Beer - the historically accurate revival of the brand that ruled DC for 100 years - at the museum’s backyard Biergarten.

AVAILABILITY

Tours of the Heurich mansion are only available through a ticketed guided experience, which is limited to 8 people per tour. All tickets must be pre-purchased; no walk-ins available.

ADMITTANCE

Tours leave at the exact listed start time. If you arrive after the tour’s start time, you will not be admitted. Once the Tour Guide brings a group into the historic house, they are unable to leave the group unattended inside for safety and security reasons.

REFUNDS & TRANSFERS

• Tours are non-refundable.

• Transfer requests must be submitted to tours@heurichhouse.org at least seventy two (72) hours prior to the tour.

• Tour tickets may only be transferred to a future date within sixty (60) days from the original tour date.

• Tours may only be transferred once.

• Requests received outside of business hours may not be reviewed until the next business day.

• If you can not make your original tour date or a date within sixty days, thank you for supporting the Museum!

TOUR CANCELLATIONS & CHANGES

The Heurich House Museum aims to maintain scheduled tours, but unforeseen circumstances may make changes or cancellations necessary. In these cases, guests will be notified as soon as possible with refund and rebooking options.

BIERGARTEN AVAILABILITY

Tours will happen rain or shine, but please note that the Biergarten is open dependent on weather. 

TICKET PRICING

As of April 9, 2026, tour ticket prices have increased from $13 to $15. This adjustment helps us pay our guides a living wage, preserve the historic interiors of the mansion, and continue scholarly research on the people who lived in and built the Heurich home. By visiting, you are directly supporting the long-term stewardship and interpretation of this important historic site.

If you’d like to further support our mission, we invite you to “round up” your ticket to $20 by selecting the Supporter Ticket, where your additional contribution goes directly toward preservation and research efforts.

NARM MEMBERS

If you are a visiting NARM member, please email membership@heurichhouse.org with a photo of your membership card to receive a discount code, which you will then use to reserve your complimentary tour ticket. Tickets are subject to availability. NARM members can receive one ticket per member per calendar year. Please allow us 48 hours to process your request.

PRIVATE TOURS

Private tours are currently unavailable, except for a limited number of student groups. To inquire about student tours, please email tours@heurichhouse.org.
