We'll be spending the day at Miegunyah House Museum, a beautiful, 1880s villa tucked away in Bowen Hills.
Built in 1886, Miegunyah offers a wonderful glimpse into Brisbane's domestic past. Inside, the house is furnished to create the impression that the family has simply stepped out for the day — giving you a wonderfully atmospheric opportunity to experience an historic home rather than simply look at one behind a barrier. The workshop will be held in the former dining room!
🏛️ You'll receive a private tour of Miegunyah, where we'll explore this fascinating house and consider the clues that its architecture, interiors and surviving history can reveal.

Hi! I'm Marianne Taylor, but you might know me by my alter ego...

I'm an Architectural Historian with 20 years' experience working in history and heritage, including 13 years specialising in researching houses and buildings.
During that time, I've researched more than 300 houses and buildings across Australia, uncovering their stories, tracing their owners, investigating their architecture and digging through historical records to piece together their past.
Along the way, I've discovered the best places to look, the tricks that can save hours of research, the frustrating pitfalls to avoid — and, perhaps most importantly, how to turn seemingly tiny clues into fascinating discoveries.
