Housing Town Hall 3: Turning density into community
Description
Picking up where forums one and two left off, we ask: how we can take the challenge of increasing density, and turn it into an opportunity to build economically and environmentally sustainable communities that we all want to live in? We investigate a few projects to understand what best practice affordable housing brings to our community. What can we learn from these success stories, and what do we need to build the vibrant, diverse and affordable suburbs we all want to live in?

Host - Fergus Neal
Fergus Neal is a Melbourne-based comedian, writer and podcaster with a knack for finding the joke inside the serious stuff. He’s worked as a writer and producer on ABC’s Gruen and Charlie Pickering’s The Yearly, and has a project with Disney+ in the works. When he’s not on stage, he’s making the case for housing reform, especially for younger people trying to get a foothold.
Host - Nicolette Boele
Nicolette Boele MP is the community independent Member for Bradfield. Before running for Parliament in 2022, and then being elected to Parliament in 2025, Nicolette worked in clean energy and finance - helping businesses and governments make practical, sustainable decisions to build a stronger economy. Throughout her career, she has worked to solve complex problems through collaboration with a broad, relevant group of stakeholders and expert input. It’s how she works now - as your independent Member for Bradfield.
Mayor Tanya Taylor
Mayor Tanya Taylor was popularly elected to Willoughby City Council in December 2021, and is the third female Mayor in the Council’s 157-year history. Mayor Tanya is proud to lead this inclusive and diverse Council, which includes six female Councillors. As Mayor, Tanya is committed to working with the community to ensure Willoughby continues to flourish and evolve. Her focus is on creating a sustainable and enjoyable environment, fostering a social and supportive atmosphere for residents and businesses. Tanya is passionate about including the community in Council’s decision-making and would like to see more opportunities for public input. She supports the development of a more accessible and inclusive environment for everyone and celebrating Willoughby’s vibrant multiculturalism.
Robert Pradolin
As an Executive Director of Housing All Australians, Robert represents the voice of the private sector in addressing the national housing crisis. This organisation believes in the vital economic importance of housing all Australians, rich or poor, and advocates for new and innovative housing solutions. For over a decade, Robert has worked to change the way we build low-rise apartments, leading the team at Australand that designed and constructed Australia's first five-storey lightweight timber residential apartment complex, The Green, in Parkville, Melbourne.
Sue Weatherley
Sue is a passionate and successful urban planner and senior local government executive with over 30 years of experience in senior local government executive planning roles in NSW and QLD, including Townsville, Ryde, Parramatta and Georges River. Sue was on the NSW Architect Registration Board from 2014 to 2020, was the Chair of the 200Planning Task Force for Committee for Sydney and is now on the Local Government Committee for IPART. Her contribution to Local Government has been twice recognised, in 2012 and 2016, as the recipient of the Minister’s Award for women in local government. In November 2018, Planning Institute of Australia NSW (PIA) named Sue the Planner of the Year at its annual excellence awards. Sue is also a fellow of PIA.
