AB5: How it killed stripping in California
Description
California's AB5 was a law that was implemented for strippers on a pole. But nobody really asked the marginalized stripper what they needed. In this course, we will dive into exactly what AB5 was meant to do, what it actually did, who created it, and who lobbied for it. And, most importantly, what we can do next.
This 1-hour session on Tuesday, November 17 is for people with lived experience in the sex trade. It begins at 3pm ET/2pm CT/1pm MT/12pm PT.
Questions for learners:
What do you think labor law should look like for the stripper?
Do y’all know the affects AB5 has had on California? And did you know that the federal government was looking at the same law for the nation?
Do you know the difference between legalization and decriminalization?
Are you familiar with the lack of body autonomy you have as an employee? Versus an independent contractor?
