Our next offering is:

A 'Real' Green New Deal? Policies for a Post-Growth Economy (Part III of Ecological Civilisation)

- a YouTube video by Dr Samuel Alexander, a lecturer at the University of Melbourne. Dr Alexander teaches a course called ‘Consumerism and the Growth Economy: Critical Interdisciplinary Perspectives.’ He is also co-director of the Simplicity Institute and a research fellow with the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute.

The idea of the "Ecological Civilisation" series is to encourage community members to delve into ideas of degrowth, post-growth economy, theories of change, energy descent, techno-optimism and what would a post-growth world look like and how do we get there?

- Transitional challenges

After this film we will break into small groups and contemplate three questions:

1) How are we locked into systems of over-consumption?

2) What sources of meaning and happiness can emerge without over-consumption?

3) How far can a Green government take us towards a post-growth economy?

The Film Shed is at the rear of Charity Coffman's house at 44 Merchant St Margaret River.

Parking:
- Several parking places on Charity's verge,
- Public open space parking 50m west of 44 Merchant St (opposite No 38)
- Please don't park on neighbours' verge, as we don't wish to annoy them!

Walk to Shed in rear garden down the left side of the house.
Time to commence 5.15pm. A simple meal of dahl and rice will be provided. Please bring a bowl, spoon/ fork, a glass and your own drinks.

A gold coin donation will cover costs!
