An additional day has been added to cover exemplars in Poetry essay writing. There is no need to have completed the original 5-hour course as this is independent of the outstanding content that was delivered.
New additional session: Sunday 27th August 11 am - 12.30 pm.
How to write a band 6 POETRY essay dissecting a top T.S.Eliot essay. The lucky students who attended Yang’s course have asked for a further session to work through exemplars. This 1.5 hour is suitable for Year 11 and Year 12 from any school not only Moriah College. There is a deadline of 9pm tonight to book into this 1.5 hour extra session.Â

Day 1: How To Ace Short Answer Questions
You will be explicitly taught how to dissect short answer questions under examination conditions and tips and tricks on how to maximise your marks in this section of the exam.Â
Day 2: How To Write A Critical Essay Analysing Poetry
You will be explicitly taught how to dissect essay questions under examination conditions and tips and tricks on how to analyse Robert Browning's poetry.Â
On both days, there will be opportunities for you to engage in some practice writing during the workshop and you will receive immediate feedback.
There is an optional extra to have your work marked by Yang where she gives her students direct feedback. You can choose one or two pieces to be marked;Â Section 1 - short answer and Section 2 - essay.Â
ABOUTÂ Yang Sun
An outstanding, sought after English Teacher with decades of experience.Â
Yang is a senior English teacher at Marist College, Eastwood with more than ten years of teaching experience.Â
She was part of the Moriah College English Department when they came 3rd in the state for English in 2017 and 9th in the state in 2018. Her students have consistently achieved Band 6s in the HSC Advanced and English Extension 1 courses.Â
Previously, she has been an Assistant Head of English, Debating and Public Speaking Coordinator and the Literacy and Digital Coordinator.Â
Yang is currently studying a Master degree in Creative Writing at the University of Sydney.Â
In her spare time, she likes to research the field of educational psychology and develop resources on fostering metacognitive learners.Â
The knowledge Yang will share over these sessions will inspire and give a huge advantage for the upcoming Year 11 preliminary exam and set the foundation for HSC English.Â
