In this panel discussion we have invited 3 women and One Roof members who are all well versed in what it takes to set your business up to be purchased or acquired. 

Bianca La Serra recently raised capital which led to her business being acquired by a global organisation. Fleur Madden has successfully sold her own businesses and works with many business owners advising them on the best approach. Jess Bilston-Gourley is a HR and people expert and is regularly advisinig business owners on what they need to do and think about before a sale when it comes to their people and culture. 

This will be a very interactive discussion moderated by our Head of Community Frances Goh.

Bianca La Serra

Prior to launching Telmy, Bianca was the founder of Pearl Research, a leading Australia boutique qualitative research business. Specialising in branding and new products, leading Australian and global brands such as Bonds, The AFL, Mondelez & KMart regularly turned to Bianca to help them better understand their customers. She launched Telmy in 2017 with a vision to build a self serve platform that would better connect researchers with people who wanted to share their opinion. Fast forward 4 years and Telmy's acquisition by a global research firm, Bianca along with her co-founder is taking Telmy to a global audience. The experience from taking Telmy from a simple idea, to a boot-strapped start-up and now to a global research platform has taught Bianca many valuable lessons, some that she would repeat, others she would not. 

Jessica Bilston-Gourley

Jessica is the Founder and Director of HR consultancy and outsourcing provider, Positive HR and Community HR Huddle. With a double degree in Human Resource Management and Psychology, Jessica has a strong understanding of what makes people tick. She works with companies holistically to ensure a strong and compliant foundation is built that fosters a positive and connected company culture.

With a focus on HR, employment law, and workplace culture and compliance, Jessica continuously seeks ways to challenge the status quo in HR and delivers a fresh and holistic approach.

Jessica is a speaker at many industry events and in 2017 was recognised for her work in HR after being ranked in the Top 5 HR Professionals on LinkedIn across Australia.

Fleur Madden 

Fleur is the CEO and Founder of women’s jobs platform Freelancing Gems and Business Advisory Firm The Ginsburg specialising in helping female founders grow and sell their business. She has spent her whole career creating opportunities for women. She is an award-winning businesswoman and speaker with 20 years of experience running her own businesses. Fleur started her first company The Red Republic at 23 that she sold 14 years later to a multinational.

Along her journey, she has acquired other businesses, founded an online beauty company Lulu and Lipstick that she sold in 2016, where just prior her makeup brushes were in the gift bags for the 2016 Oscars. In 2020 she launched Freelancing Gems the only digital jobs platform in Australia dedicated to supporting women find their next meaningful part time, freelance or consulting job, by connecting them with Australian employers who support diversity. 

Fleur founded The Ginsburg in 2019, a business advisory firm to help other female founders scale their businesses and prepare them for a business sale one day. Over the last 3 years she has played an instrumental role in the successful sale of 4 other businesses and currently has 3 others that are in the sale process.
