How to attract birds to your garden!
Event description
Following a popular presentation in 2022 on "The Joy of Birds" Rachel and Mike are back to show you ways to attract more bird species to your garden. You'll gain practical tips on growing the local plants birds love, providing relevant food for different birds, choosing the right plants for shelter, safety and nesting; the best ways to provide the water birds need, and how to keep birds safe from attack. It will include examples of local plants, and local gardens, and of course, local birds. Did you know that recent research has shown that people are happier when they see more bird species in their garden? Come along and learn how to build a beautiful bird garden to enjoy.
About the Presenters
Rachel is a keen habitat gardener and local plant enthusiast, a passionate bird watcher and an amatuer bird photographer. Superb examples of her bird photos will be shown throughout. She is a highly successful public speaker and will be energetic, entertaining and practical. Mike is a first class bird nerd who's watched birds throughout his life. He enjoys helping people learn about them and identify them. They have recently had their garden filmed by the ABC's Gardening Australia because of their success in attracting more birds to their small suburban garden by planting local plants. In 3.5 years the species have increased from 2 to 41. Watch out! Their enthusiasm can be contagious!
