Event description

The Body Esteem Program from Luma is travelling to Albany for the first time, to deliver a one-day workshop for parents and carers supporting someone with an eating disorder.

If you are a family member, friend or carer of someone experiencing an eating disorder, it’s important for you to feel supported and well-resourced. This free, informative workshop, PESP (Parent/Partner Education and Support Program) will give you information about the nature of eating disorders, and tips on how to care for your loved one, so you can feel empowered in your role as carer and ally.

About Us:

Luma’s Body Esteem Program is WA’s only community-based eating disorder service with a focus on peer support. They offer a safe space for all individuals impacted by eating disorders to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing, and provide hope that recovery is possible. The majority of services within the BEP are facilitated by people with lived experience of an eating disorder and subsequent recovery or have been in a support role. They share their knowledge, and experience where appropriate, to enhance understanding and support. BEP also offers Art Therapy, Dietetic services and medical monitoring with a Nurse Practitioner.”

What past participants have said:

‘Thank you to the facilitators for the outstanding session. Very informative and so grateful our daughter shared with us to help her going forward with her eating disorder.’

‘It was great meeting with others to hear their experience and relate.’
