How to Make a Sensorium
Event description
How can we enhance our non-visual senses in appreciation of craft and design?
During 2023, Garland has shared more than 120 stories about the value of taste, sound, smell and touch related to handmade objects and are now exploring how these senses come together. A ‘Sensorium’ brings together all the parts of the brain that interpret sensory stimuli.
In this workshop we’ll consider how the senses reinforce each other, such as the colour of food or "listening" to incense. Led by Garland's Dr Kevin Murray this workshop will look at learnings through the ages, rituals that bring all five senses together and construct a Sensorium with existing and yet-to-be-made objects. We’ll look at learnings through the ages, rituals that bring all five senses together and construct a Sensorium with existing and yet-to-be-made objects.
This event is for adventurous, generous and grounded thinkers and makers.
