Event description
How to recognise the birds in your local parks and reserves
Ever wondered what bird is calling from the tree-tops in your local park or reserve, or flying over or perching near you? Join us for this dynamic talk and learn how to recognise the birds by their behaviour, calls and darn good looks!
Whether they are robins, parrots or birds of prey, there is no shortage of beautiful and fascinating birds in the City of Bayswater and plenty of parks and reserves, so expect an action-packed, beautifully illustrated and very informative talk from our two dynamic bird boffins, Rachel and Mike Green. It will include photos and videos taken in Maylands Reserve, Baigup Wetlands, Bayswater Civic Centre, Lightning Swamp, Nora Hughes Park, Gobba Lake, Riverside Gardens, and more. They are the authors of "A guide to the Birds of Broz Park" and their bird garden was recently featured on the ABC's Gardening Australia TV programme and in September's Gardening Australia Magazine. Bring any bird photographs or calls you want identified and be prepared to learn lots. Their last talk sold out so book in quickly.
This is the fourth in a series of four bird talks Rachel and Mike will be giving.
The first is How to Identify the Birds in your Garden on September 6th.
The second one is on "Which Duck is That: How to identify our local waterbirds" on 4th October 2025. This will be in time for the Aussie Bird Count.
The third one is "How to attract more birds to your garden" on 1st November 2025.
This workshop is proudly brought to you by Enviro House and the City of Bayswater
