How To Talk About Violence In The Media
Event description
Our kids are inundated with images, games, and videos that depict graphic violence. This ranges from the mundane to the traumatizing. The exposure to our teens and tweens is unprecedented in it's frequency and intensity. While the impact varies for individuals, studies have shown that many kids experience a desensitization to violence, heightened levels of helplessness and anxiety, and increased aggressive behavior.
We have to help our teens and tweens navigate this unfortunate aspect of social media. This webinar will talk about how to do that.
In this webinar, you'll learn:
- How to prevent vicarious traumatization (secondhand trauma from witnessing overwhelming experiences of others).
- 4 tips to help your teen manage their exposure to violence online.
- That you’re not alone in your concerns and struggles. So many of us are going through the similar challenges with our kids.
This webinar will be recorded and sent out to you, so you'll be able to use it as a resource for a limited time.
This will take place over Zoom. The recorded version of this webinar will be 45 minutes. The final 15 minutes will be a Q&A and discussion with those who are there. I want to hear your dilemmas and answer some of your questions.
I hope you'll join me on the 15th!
