Event description

Join Bobbie Pepper, a proud Gunai/Kurnai and Wotjobaluk woman, for a powerful and practical workshop on how to write a meaningful Acknowledgement of Country. This online session is designed to support participants in moving beyond scripted or tokenistic acknowledgements, and towards words that come from the heart and reflect true respect for Country, Elders, and community.

In this 1 ½ hr workshop:

  • Together, we’ll explore what makes an Acknowledgement meaningful, why it matters, and how it can be a personal act of reflection and commitment to reconciliation.

  • Through discussion, examples, and guided writing prompts, you'll learn how to craft acknowledgements that are culturally respectful, grounded in place, and true to your own voice.

  • A structure to create and deliver your own Acknowledgment of Country which can be changed given the audience you are speaking in front of.

  • The understanding of how to create one that is meaningful and heartfelt.

  • Relearn the true meaning of an Acknowledgment breaking it down into sections that are easier to understand.

Whether you're new to writing an Acknowledgement or looking to deepen your approach, this workshop offers a safe and supportive space to learn, share and grow your understanding.

Come with an open heart and leave with the tools and confidence to write with purpose and integrity.

Bobbie has served on various boards and committees, using her voice to advocate for her community and promote meaningful reconciliation efforts.

With a background in working with schools, community groups, and government organisations, Bobbie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.
