Description
Who holds space for the people holding space for everyone else?
Join us on Thursday 8th October for a light breakfast and meaningful conversation with fellow senior Human Resources and People Leaders.
We’re the ones our organisations turn to when people matters get serious - the exit that no-else knows about yet, the head-count reductions, redundancy conversations, divestments and acquisitions and a myriad of sensitive people matters requiring our attention. As Human Resources leaders, we hold it all.
The data backs up what we already know
Those of us in people centred roles are acutely aware of the importance of psychosocial safety, self-care and work-life balance. Faced with ever-increasing demands to do more with less, practicing what we preach is easier said than done. In a live LinkedIn poll by HRM Online, 92 per cent of the nearly 300 respondents (at the time of publishing) said they found it hard to maintain work-life balance as a HR professional either often or sometimes.
Global and Australian data explicitly confirms that HR professionals experience higher rates of moderate-to-severe burnout (54%) than non-HR employees (48%). [HR Burnout: The Hidden Crisis Behind the People Profession]. HR leaders are tasked as the caretakers of workplace culture and the first point of contact when other leaders are struggling. But what happens when the people supporting everyone else start to struggle too?
A 2026 report from Inspiring Workplaces found that 91% of HR teams report rising workloads and working hours, with 95% of HR leaders saying their responsibilities have expanded, often without any corresponding increase in resources or support.
Many of us have felt these tensions long before the statistics were published.
We’re hosting this intimate, small group event to create space for this important conversation.
Facilitators
Linda Williamson & Ciara Hassan
Linda forged her HR career in the private and public sectors over 30+ years. 12 years ago she founded All Things Change - a boutique change management and leadership development company in Perth. She calls herself a ‘recovering perfectionist and rehabilitated workaholic’ following her own experience of holding it all. Today, she’s a trusted coach and facilitator helping CEOs and their teams to transform their leadership through their values and purpose. Her clients include global mining companies, law firms, universities, not-for-profits, professional services and the public sector.
Ciara Hassan is visiting us from Ireland/U.K. and has spent 20+ years solving the messiest people problems in organisations across retail, hospitality, telecoms, manufacturing, financial services and FMCG in Ireland, UK, Europe, MENAT and beyond. Where others saw a limitation, budget constraint or crisis, she saw an opportunity: some of her best work has come from finding a creative fix with little to no resources, in the middle of genuine chaos.
A few years ago, her own body forced her to apply that same thinking to herself - sending her deep into neuroscience, which she now brings to senior HR and people leaders navigating exactly the pressure this audience will understand.
This event is being held exclusively for senior HR and People leaders; CHROs, People Directors, Heads of People & Culture and Org Development.
We’re intentionally keeping the event intimate, to generate meaningful conversation, not a crowd.
