Join HSRAANZ, in collaboration with @research, the R3SHARE Network, and the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), for our end-of-year event featuring the 2025 HSRAANZ Annual General Meeting which provides a series of brief reports on the Association’s activities over the past 12 months, the announcement of the 2025 HSRAANZ Award winners, and a dedicated panel session on practical tools and strategies to support health services research and strengthen research capacity.

Panel Members:
Dr Heather Cameron works as the Program Manager for the Regional Research Teaching Hub, hosts of the @research website, a part of the MRFF funded project, ReViTALISE. Her working background spans over 30 years working in healthcare and education across New Zealand and Australia, in the fields of Palliative Care, Aged Care and Clinical Education and Training. Her roles have included clinical areas of counselling and social work, education, project work, management and health promotion. She has published research in regional, rural and remote equity and access to healthcare, as well as the use of illness narratives and poetry in cancer and palliative care.
Dr David Schmidt works as the senior program manager for rural research in the Health Education and Training Institute and as a senior lecturer for the School of Rural Health in the University of Sydney. A physiotherapist by background, David is passionate about clinician-led research in the rural environment. David completed a PhD on research capacity building in the rural health workplace through University of Sydney. David is a founding co-chair of the R3ShARE Network, a national network of rural health research educators. David is a married father of three, cartoonist, poet and musician when he is not trying to build capacity in the world of rural research.
Dr Amany Gouda-Vossos is the Skills Development Lead (Health and Medical) at the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), where she works to build digital capability and strengthen the research workforce. Her passion for fostering a strong learning culture has been shaped by 15 years’ experience across university, and corporate environments. Her interdisciplinary background spans molecular sciences, evolutionary biology, health, and science education. Amany takes an evidence-based approach to designing skills initiatives, ensuring they are practical, impactful, and aligned with the evolving needs of researchers and the broader health sector.
