🎙️Topic: The budget impact of implementing short-stay joint replacement models of care in Australia
Joint replacements are a high volume procedure, with >136,000 performed in Australia each year. Evidence-based "enhanced recovery from surgery" models of care have been shown to significantly reduce length of hospital stay without compromising patient outcomes. This study estimated the overall financial impact for funders from widespread adoption of short-stay joint replacement surgery in both the public and private healthcare sectors.
🗣️ Presented by: Dr Melanie Lloyd (Winner of HSRAANZ’s 2025 Health Services and Policy Research Paper of the Year - Best Early Career Research (ECR) Paper)
