Day 1 (LD): HOME TO BATHURST                                                                             Monday 22 September 2025

Welcome to our 5-day spring tour. The isolated township is located on a plateau high above sea level and takes its name from the King of the Fairies in Shakespeare’s famous Midsummer Night’s Dream. We stop for lunch at the Ourimbah RSL before continuing through the Blue Mountains to Bathurst, our motel for the next four nights, so settle in and freshen up before dinner in the restaurant.

Day 2 (BLD) MAYFIELD GARDENS                                                                          Tuesday 23 September 2025

Our day unfolds amidst the stunning landscapes of Mayfield Gardens, an expansive haven celebrated as one of the world’s largest privately owned cool-climate gardens. Nestled within a 5000-acre working farm, the garden’s beginnings were humble in comparison. Since then, it has continued to expand and flourish. We are here to experience spring in the gardens, strolling through the exquisite Water Garden and the enchanting Valley of Five Ponds, plus savouring the moments of tranquillity, and absorbing the garden’s resplendent beauty. After a day filled with wonder and delight at this natural paradise, we have some free time at leisure.

DAY 3: (BLD) BATHURST TOURING                                                                   Wednesday 24 September 2025

Following breakfast, we are accompanied by a local guide; we embark on an exploration of the city’s heritage. One of Australia’s oldest inland cities, Bathurst retains a remarkably preserved Victorian-era streetscape adorned with impressive architectural buildings. One such gem is Abercrombie House, a castle-like mansion constructed in the 1870s. Boasting over 40 rooms, it is surrounded by beautiful gardens spanning 20 hectares of land. With its captivating blend of Gothic and Scottish Baronial styles, Abercrombie House stands as a testament to architectural opulence and is recognised as one of Australia’s finest historical mansions. Following a delicious lunch, our next destination is Miss Traill’s House, a charming Victorian-era bungalow weaving the tales of Miss Ida Traill and her family’s life in early Bathurst. As we tour this special house museum, we’ll discover how little has changed over the years, preserving the essence of a bygone era. Filled with the treasures of Bathurst, we return to our hotel to freshen up before dinner.

Day 4: (BLD) KATOOMBA AND LEURA                                                                                 Thursday 25 September 2025

This morning, we immerse ourselves in nature at Scenic World. Descend into the Jamison Valley on the world’s steepest train, the Scenic Railway, glide on the Cableway past the iconic Three Sisters, take a stroll beneath ancient rainforest or journey between cliff tops, taking in the panoramic views of World Heritage landscapes on the Scenic Skyway – the choice is yours! Our next visit is to the Carrington Hotel. This Grand Old Lady became a popular mountain retreat for international visitors and the elite of Sydney. Her long and rich history spans more than a century and will be our lunch location today. From here we visit Bygone Beauty’s. Everywhere we look, we see an array of teapots; from old to new, elegant to outrageous, miniature to large, from countries all over the world. The collection includes rare, unusual and collectable teapots as well as iconic designs from various eras and made from different materials. Returning to our note, we have some free time before dinner.
