About the Film
The documentary Bringing Tibet Home (2013), directed by Tenzin Tsetan Choklay, follows the extraordinary story of Tibetan artist Tenzing Rigdol, who smuggled 20,000 kilograms of Tibetan soil to Dharamsala, India. This bold act was a response to his late father's unfulfilled wish to return to Tibet before passing. Through his installation, Our Land, Our People, Rigdol allowed exiled Tibetans to symbolically reconnect with their homeland. The film has been celebrated worldwide, premiering at the Busan International Film Festival and receiving awards at festivals such as the Festival International de Programmes Audiovisuels in France and CAAMFest in the U.S. It also earned standing ovations at the Brisbane International Film Festival.
