Human Rights in Practice: Freedom, Dignity and Justice in Mental Health Care
Description
This session will invite participants to move beyond human rights as legislation and policy towards something that people can experience in mental health services.
What do the principles of freedom, dignity, and justice actually look and feel like when we access mental healthcare? This interactive session explores how services can support us to access and receive equitable care without fear of stigma, discrimination or judgement.
Bringing together Scotland's national service reform priorities of right-based, person-centred, recovery-focused, trauma-responsive, and intersectional practice, we'll explore the practical actions service leaders and practitioners can take to reduce mental health stigma and discrimination.
How leadership and governance can create the conditions for human rights to be realised.
How cultures of care can support dignity, equity, and inclusion.
How policies and pathways can provide fair and accessible care.
The role different people play to realise rights-based practice.
