Human Security: Trust in Home, Health, Food and Future
Event description
Human security is about meeting the needs of people, today and tomorrow, and their communities, in a sustainable way. For many Australians, the immediate day-to-day concerns of affordable housing, health care and education and job security dominate but increasingly people are concerned about the future well-being for the generations to come. And for the First Peoples of Australia, it's about closing the gap and getting a 'fair go'.
This webinar will discuss the importance of human security in Australia and how we can renew our communities for the wellbeing of all. The UN Pact for the Future adopted at the United Nations on 21 September 2024 recognised “We are at a time of profound global transformation. We are confronted by rising catastrophic and existential risks, many caused by the choices we make.” Yet the Pact also saw this as ‘a moment of hope and opportunity.’ The nations of the world expressed the view that “there is a path to a brighter future for all of humanity, including those living in poverty and vulnerable situations.
Join us to discuss what we should be doing in Australia.
