Event description
As Part of Law Week - The BSWAC Human Library invites people to ‘borrow’ living books—individuals with diverse lived experiences—for meaningful, one-on-one conversations. This event offers a rare opportunity to connect beyond assumptions and explore the complexity of personal journeys, particularly around the justice system, mental health, recovery, and resilience.
Attendees will engage in 20-minute conversations with BSWAC members who volunteer to share their stories openly. Each ‘book’ brings a unique perspective shaped by lived experience, with the aim of breaking down stereotypes, reducing stigma, and fostering empathy.
This event is valuable for anyone interested in social justice, community engagement, or personal growth. Whether you’re a student, professional, policymaker or community member, you’ll walk away with deeper insights and a stronger appreciation of the power of listening.
The Human Library is not about giving advice or asking invasive questions—it’s about respectful, curious conversation. Participants will leave with more understanding, and our ‘books’ will leave feeling heard and valued.
Join us in creating a safe space where real stories challenge prejudice and spark connection.
