The late Ed Schein described the concept of ‘humble inquiry’ as ‘the fine art of drawing someone out, of asking questions to which you do not already know the answer, of building a relationship based on curiosity and interest in the other person’.  

 
Join us for an evening of appreciation and brief exploration of the significant influence of Edgar Schein, who passed away this year. 

We will share some of his contributions to the field of OD, and quickly move to spend time considering questions relating to your personal response or application of these principles, and the relevance to OD and consulting.  

Whether you are deeply familiar with Ed Schein’s work, or it is new to you, this is an opportunity to reflect on how the contributions of the past serve us now and into the future.

Rod Barnett, Principal, Salient Consulting

Rod has been principal of Salient Consulting for 27 years. He enjoys working closely with leaders and teams as they create the right environment to achieve their organization’s purpose, increasing levels of engagement, innovation, productivity, safety, and service. Rod works with CEOs and operational teams across a wide range of industries, sectors and cultures. He is a member of O.D. Australia.

He was Vice President of the International Organization Development Association (IODA) for 6 years. He continues to actively support IODA’s work, and is on the board of their endowment fund focused on making awards to recognize people using O.D. principles in peace-making and conflict resolution.
