Hunter White Ribbon Breakfast 2026

The Hunter White Ribbon Committee is proud to host its annual White Ribbon Breakfast on Wednesday December 2nd 2026 at McDonald Jones Stadium (Broadmeadow Rooms).  Held during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence — the international campaign running from November 25th (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10th (Human Rights Day).

The theme of this event is Respect in Action: Building a Safer Future Together, and aims to raise awareness of violence against women, encourage community discussion, and promote evidence-based actions to prevent gender-based violence. It emphasises that creating a future free from violence is a shared responsibility and encourages all members of the community to be involved in driving change.

A key speaker at this year's breakfast is Belinda Reed, a proud Wonnarua woman and Manager of Warlga Ngurra Incorporated. Belinda has more than 10 years’ experience in community services and is recognised for her advocacy for culturally safe, trauma-informed services for Aboriginal women, children, and families. She will share insights on community-led approaches to addressing domestic, family, and sexual violence.

Supporting Local Action

Proceeds from the event will support the Hunter Domestic & Family Violence (DFV) Consortium, a partnership of specialist services providing support to people experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness across the Hunter region, including Warlga Ngurra, Jenny’s Place, Got Your Back Sista, Family Support Newcastle, Carrie’s Place, Upper Hunter Homeless Support, Nova for Women and Children, and Port Stephens Family and Neighbourhood Services.
