Melbourne duo Huntly are regarded as one of Australia’s most engaging and evocative rising electronic acts, a status that the musicians have expanded upon as their artistry has continued to evolve. Signing with Dot Dash/Remote Control Records (FKA twigs, Holly Herndon, Smerz, Arca) for the release of their second album Sentimental Still (2023), Huntly emerge as a new leader in Australia’s invigorated experimental pop scene.
The arrival of debut album Low Grade Buzz in 2019 brought Huntly widespread recognition: earning nominations for the esteemed Australian Music Prize (2019), and at the AIR Awards (2020) for Best Independent Dance Album. The record garnered acclaim from tastemakers including triple j, FBi Radio, 3RRR, MTV and Rage. Internationally, Huntly’s music has drawn praise from outlets like Stereogum, Noisey, as well as Anthony Fantano and Vinyl Me Please, bolstering the album’s success with fans in international markets – accruing over one million streams and solidifying the album’s impact with a growing fanbase around the world.
Returning to the spotlight with their sophomore studio record Sentimental Still, Huntly demonstrate new evolution as their work explores the nature of relationships and a dedication to intimacy in all its forms. Sentimental Still is a stunning collection of music, highlighting myriad influences from UK garage, drum&bass, and alternative R&B. Already amassing praise for its vision, warmth, and heartfelt precision, Huntly’s new release will see them showcase at SXSW (USA) before returning to Australia to commence their national album tour in April 2023.
