Join us as we welcome three inspiring women, each making powerful contributions in their fields:
🌸 Nafanua Purcell-Kersel – A talented writer, poet, and performer, Nafanua explores themes of identity, culture, and the power of storytelling. Her debut book Black Sugarcane (Te Herenga Waka University Press) earned her the 2022 Biggs Family Prize in Poetry. She also facilitates community spaces and workshops through her work as operations co-ordinator for the local Rainbow Hub. In both of these roles she explores themes of identity, culture, and the power of storytelling, touching hearts and inspiring minds.
💜 Kelley Waite – A trailblazer and Kiwi veteran, Kelley broke barriers as a telecommunications operator and helicopter crewman in the RNZAF. Now, as the ACO Trade Lead for Search and Rescue Services Limited, Kelley plays a key role in the team that crews the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter along with other rescue helicopter teams across the North Island.
🎨 Nephi Tupaea – A multi-media Māori artist and long-standing member of the Pacific Sisters artist collective and Iwi Toi Ngāti Kahungunu, Nephi is renowned for blending traditional Māori art with contemporary mediums.
