Hybrid GP Education Breakfast: A Deep Dive into Diagnosing Acral and Nodular Melanoma

Join Melanoma Institute Australia for a hybrid educational symposium designed for Skin Cancer Doctors and experienced General Practitioners who want to strengthen their dermoscopy skills and build greater confidence in diagnosing less common melanoma subtypes.

Held in partnership with St Vincent's Private Hospital Sydney, this engaging hybrid educational symposium will focus on diagnosing acral and nodular melanoma—aggressive subtypes that often challenge even seasoned clinicians. Our advanced dermoscopy training will deliver practical, evidence-based insights to improve accuracy in diagnosis and patient care.

Designed for clinicians who are already proficient in dermoscopy and wish to deepen their knowledge of these challenging subtypes, the workshop features expert presentations, case discussions, small-group learning and interactive panels exploring the dermoscopic patterns and structures critical to identifying acral and nodular melanoma.

Note: Only Session 1 will be livestreamed. The interactive small group case study discussion is ONLY available for in-person tickets (at Wollstonecraft and Wagga Wagga).

While this education is targeted at Skin Cancer Doctors and experienced Primary Care physicians, we also welcome other experienced healthcare professionals who are keen to upskill in this area.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

• Recognise key clinical and dermoscopic features of acral and nodular melanoma and differentiate them from benign and non-melanocytic lesions.

• Apply a systematic approach to dermoscopic assessment to improve diagnostic accuracy in detecting challenging melanoma subtypes.

• Identify appropriate biopsy techniques and referral pathways for suspicious lesions, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

• Interpret and discuss real-life case studies to reinforce diagnostic reasoning and management decision-making for acral and nodular lesions. (For in person/satellite meeting only)
