Hypothetical Hybrids

Designed in response to Sculpture in the Gardens and the Auckland Botanic Gardens setting, join artist Deborah Crowe for a 3 hour workshop exploring paper collage as an exciting and fluid tool for creative play. With a ‘no rules’ approach, dive into making!

Through guided exercises you’ll record observations of the immediate surroundings, create imaginary relationships between flora, objects and or buildings. Come and play with possibilities to create unexpected imagery, concoct unusual mash ups, and produce inventive visual collisions.

At the end of the workshop you will have:

At least 2 experimental collages

A set of 10 photos that explore relationships between nature and the built environment. We will print 2 of these per person for use in your collages. We will print 2 of these per person for use in your collages.

A word bank resource that you can use for future creations.

No experience necessary. Give it a go!

All materials will be provided but we ask that you bring your phone so you can snap some photos on site during the beginning 15minutes of the workshop.
