Cristiano Pires - Navigating Tech and Life: Lessons from a Cybersecurity Expert and Immigrant
Cris is an experienced IT and cybersecurity professional with an aptitude for making people feel secure, both in their digital lives and personal journeys. Originally from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Cris brings resilience and a deep passion for helping others navigate the complexities of technology and life. His work isn’t just about protecting data—it’s about empowering others to feel safe to grow.
He will open up about his own journey as an immigrant and share the lessons he’s learned along the way. He’ll talk about the challenges and triumphs of building a new life abroad, finding his path in the tech world, and staying true to his roots. His message will focus on practical insights for immigrants on how to adapt, make the most of their skills, and build a fulfilling career and life in a new place.
Francine Tavares - Sustainability to Startups: A Non-Tech Founder’s Journey in the Tech World
Francine, a circular thinker and expert in sustainability and ESG strategies, has over 15 years of experience in environmental reporting frameworks, where she focuses on creating holistic strategic projects that benefit people, the planet, and businesses. As founder of Behive and Conexus.earth and with a background in Business, a Master’s in Culture and Society, and dual PhDs in Social Behavior and Human Geography, Francine has led impactful research and developed ESG projects for UNESCO and the Brazilian government.
She will share the unique challenges she faced as a non-tech founder starting a tech startup. She will highlight key lessons learned and emphasise the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and strategic thinking, especially in the context of her work in sustainability and circular economy initiatives. Her insights will inspire and guide entrepreneurs navigating the tech industry from diverse professional backgrounds.
Pedro Giesel - Resilience and Passion: Building a Community and Career Across Industries
Pedro has a diverse and inspiring background, having worked in different roles in different industries, as business owner, and startup co-founder. He also served as the Director of the largest paramedical college in Australia. Currently, Pedro is the Business System Manager at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Co-founder of Aimebee, Co-founder and Director of Infinities ICT Solution (Software/App development) and Executive Director of the Immigrant Business Council (IBC). For the past 8 years, he has been dedicated to supporting the international community on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast through impactful networking events.
In his presentation, Pedro will share insights on resilience, discipline, passion, and compassion, drawing from his rich experiences across multiple industries and his commitment to community building.
