Event description

Join IBPSA-Australasia for a webinar on  Future Climate Files for Commercial Building Energy Modelling featuring Grace Foo from DeltaQ on Friday 13th of November.

On behalf of the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (DISER) DeltaQ has conducted a research into the impact of using future climate files for commercial building energy modelling. The research  identified that the impact of using future climate files on building design was substantial, as under projected conditions, building cooling requirements will increase and heating requirements will decrease. Several key recommendations were made in the report, including setting up an Australian-specific centralised climate files repository for easy access by modellers. Full report can be viewed in this link.

DISER is now seeking to progress the recommendations in the report by gathering primary evidence through a survey of IBPSA members to identify what type of climate files are typically used, and whether any allowance is made for future climate risk in current commercial building modelling and design. This webinar is part of that consultation process and will incorporate some polling of attendees.

Grace was the lead consultant for the delivery of the DeltaQ's initial research on how to address future climate risk in energy modelling. Grace was also a key technical coordinator behind the updates to the NCC 2019 energy efficiency requirements (Section J). She led a large interdisciplinary team conducting research, energy modelling and economic analysis in the fields of building fabric, lighting, and HVAC systems. Grace delivers successful energy efficiency projects with the capability to convert technical recommendations into cost-effective and commissionable projects, where investment performance can be measured and proven.

The webinar can be claimed for 1 GBCA Sustainable Development CPD point.
