IDAHOBIT 2025: Of An Age (2022) film screening & panel discussion
Event description
Join SA Rainbow Advocacy Alliance for a powerful evening of storytelling, awareness, and advocacy as we commemorate IDAHOBIT 2025 with a special screening of Of An Age (2022).
This poignant Australian film nominated by our friends at Adelaide Queer Film Festival is a queer coming-of-age that explores themes of identity, love, and self-discovery in 1990s suburban Melbourne.
Before the screening, a guest panel featuring experts and community leaders will dive into the challenges and progress towards ending LGBTIQA+ discrimination. This engaging discussion will provide insights into the lived experiences of LGBTIQA+ individuals and explore practical ways we can all contribute to a more inclusive future.
Come together for an evening of film, conversation, and solidarity, as we celebrate resilience and reaffirm our commitment to ending discrimination.
Proceeds support SA Rainbow Advocacy Alliance (SARAA) (ABN: 34 254 826 976) a registered charity supporting LGBTIQA+ South Australians.
About the film
It’s the summer of 1999 and two teens fresh out of high school – reserved, Serbian-born Nikola (Elias Anton, Barracuda) and fiery Ebony (Hattie Hook) – are partners for a dance competition. On the big day, Nikola gets a distressed call from Ebony, asking to be rescued from the other side of town, so he enlists her brother, the charming Adam (Thom Green, Dance Academy; Downriver, MIFF Premiere Fund 2015), to take him there. On the drive, amid traffic and amicable swagger, the two young men discover a mutual spark … but Adam is leaving the country in 24 hours. - Melbourne International Film Festival
