    Event description

Join us for a virtual session where we'll discuss navigating the challenges of technology usage and parenting in today's digital age!

Welcome to our Managing Screen & Tech Conflict as a Family!

The battle around screen time is real. As parents we are conflicted and are often confused about the rules and the ins and outs of technology used by our children. This session will speak to the research and history of “screen time” and how recent thinking is asking us to move beyond it and towards ways of positively using technology in our lives. There will be a range of ideas and tips from family technology planning, to how to talk with your teens and why you need to let go of the guilt and in doing so reduce the conflict and arguments about phones, youtube and all things online.

    Who will present?

Meet our Digital Innovation Manager, Daniel Donahoo.

Daniel has spent more than two decades working with children, young people and families in government, not for profit and education organisations.

Daniel is the author of children, family, media and technology “Idolising Children” and co-author of “Adproofing Your Kids” and his writing and ideas have appeared in The Age, Herald Sun, The Australian and many other publications.

He has produced educational apps with Bell Shakespeare, created learning resources for Bluey and the ABC, and worked with teachers and schools to improve student outcomes in a wide range of projects and programs with a focus on technology, ethical behaviours and relationships.

What are Parent & Carer Sessions?

PROJECT ROCKIT offers a suite of workshops for parents that help them understand their child’s experience in the digital world and offers advice on the ways to foster better relationships with your children and digital technology.

Our Parenting Sessions are only available to parents whose schools are signed up to PROJECT ROCKIT PLUS, our platform that supports our in school workshops with teacher resources, student voiced videos and parent materials.

All sessions for parents are free and they can receive access to any event through a link provided by their school (which is likely how you have found this event!)

If you have any further questions or queries, please don't hesitate to reach out via email at info@projectrockit.com.au
