IdeaSpies Community New Topic Series I The Role of Hydrogen in Decarbonising our Economy

Please join our IdeaSpies Community for a vibrant online discussion of the role of hydrogen in decarbonising our economy.

This is the first in our New Topic Series with the aim of bringing our IdeaSpies Community together and to help support and grow your connections within the IdeaSpies Community. 

Our IdeaSpies Energy Editor, Kylie Hargreaves, will lead the discussion and offer her view in the first 15 minutes. 

Then, the discussion will hand over to you all for the next 30 minutes to ask questions and offer your views. The last 15 minutes is a great opportunity for you to connect and engage with the IdeaSpies Community.

'Hydrogen' has been selected as the first topic for our IdeaSpies Community due to its potential as a zero emission fuel for both domestic use and global exports, if green hydrogen is used. 

Australia has a National Hydrogen Strategy which notes almost every state and territory in Australia has regions with excellent prospects for green hydrogen production and there is clearly growing global demand. 

Under H2Global Foundation activities speculative off-take agreements are already being finalised for potential deliveries as early as the end of 2024/2025 into Europe.  However, green hydrogen technology breakthroughs are not expected at scale till after 2030. 

So, how real is the role of green hydrogen in our decarbonisation journey?
