    Event description

Oranges, lemons, and limes belong to the family Rutaceae, but we also have many local rainforest trees and shrubs in the “citrus” family. Bumpy Ash and Crow’s Ash are giant trees, and this family also includes the shrubby and scented acronychias, native limes, and the “vulnerable” three-leaved bosistoa.

Join Hilary Pearl at the Barung Nursery for a two-hour workshop learning the common features of the Rutaceae rainforest plants. You will learn nine of our local species, and using their Rutaceae features, we will key some out with the “Rainforest Trees and Shrubs” book and associated App. We will also demonstrate the use of iNaturalist, as an ID tool.

Magnifying lenses, keys, and a worksheet of the nine key species will be supplied. The morning will end with a Rutaceae walk in the Barung Seed Forest.

Participation is limited to 15 places so please book in to attend!
