Identifying Rainforest Plants of the Blackall Range: the family Sapindaceae (repeat due to popular demand!)
Event description
Maples, lychees, and rambutans are in the family Sapindaceae, but did you know we have many local rainforest trees and shrubs in the so-called “soapberry” family?
Join Hilary Pearl at the Barung Nursery for a two-hour workshop learning the common features of the rainforest plants in this family. You will learn ten of our local species, and knowing their Sapindaceae features, we will have a go at keying a few out, using the “Rainforest Trees and Shrubs” book (bring this if you own a copy). We will also demonstrate the use of the associated Identification App. Magnifying lenses, keys, and a worksheet of the ten key species will be supplied, and the morning will end with a Sapindaceae walk in the Seed Forest.
Participation is limited to 15 places so please book in to attend!
