Event description

Create Something Special for World Children’s Day at Your Library!

Come be part of a creative adventure! With support from Save the Children New Zealand and The Light Library, tamariki and whānau will explore what it means to say: “Identity is my right to be me.”

We’ll each make a handmade book to take home, and work together to create a new prompt poem about identity. This poem will be translated into te reo Māori, and become part of a special resource for tamariki and whānau to make their own books. This resource will be available for free download online so no matter where you are in the country you can take part. Our co-created book will also be part of a special display this November for World Children’s Day — with your creative voice and hands woven into it!

Workshops are free, fun, and open to all!
They’re best suited for ages 9–16 with caregivers, but younger whānau are welcome too—there’ll be options so everyone can take part.

If your whānau have any specific needs, let us know—we’ll do our best to support everyone to participate, access, and enjoy the time together.

FREE - All materials provided, plus shared kai.

Please note - with your & your parent/adult’s consent, photography and video footage may be collected at the workshops for use in the resource or to be shared online.

All Children must be accompanied by a Caregiver.

All the Workshop Dates:
