International Day of People with Disability

International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD), is held on 3 December annually and celebrates and raises awareness of people with disability and equitable opportunities in all aspects of life. In 2024, IDPWD is celebrating 32 years since it was announced by the UN General Assembly in 1992.

This year's theme for IDPWD is 'Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future'. The theme this year reflects the current international political and policy context, in particular the Pact for the Future and the upcoming 2025 World Summit for Social Development, and the need to create momentum for achieving the 2030 Agenda. The theme seeks to amplify the centrality of the leadership role of persons with disabilities, in all of these efforts - from the global to the local.

Accessibility

The trail surface is combination of hard packed gravel and boardwalk. This is a grade 1 trail so there are sections in which assistance may be required. For manual wheelchair users it is recommended to do the trail with a freewheel attached (if you have one) as this will make the trail easier to navigate.

Who is this event for?
