Abstract:

In an era marked by unprecedented advancements in AI, it has become increasingly crucial to understand the appropriate applications of this technology. As AI continues to evolve and shape our world, we find ourselves standing at a pivotal juncture, where we must carefully navigate the boundaries and harness its potential for the greater good. This talk aims to explore the intricate relationship between AI and its real-world applications. We will delve into the nuances of when and how AI can truly make a difference, examining the diverse clinical domains where it has already proven transformative and uncovering potential areas where it has yet to fully manifest its potential.

Biography:

Dr Nan Liu leads the Duke-NUS AI + Medical Sciences Initiative (DAISI) and directs the Digital Medicine Lab at Duke-NUS Medical School. His research focuses on AI and machine learning with applications to medical informatics, health services research, emergency and critical care, cardiology, and health innovation. Dr Liu has been awarded research grants from the Singapore National Medical Research Council and National Research Foundation. He was recognized as one of the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier. Dr Liu has served as an Editor for many prestigious journals, such as npj Digital Medicine and PLOS Medicine.
