Illawarra Festival of Architecture & Design (IFAD) – Awards Celebration Evening

In partnership with JN Consulting Engineers and IFAD, we invite you to an evening that unites music, art, and architecture in one of the region’s most iconic cultural venues - Wollongong Art Gallery. All profits from the night will be donated to the Illawarra Women’s Trauma Recovery Centre, supporting vital services for women and families in our region.

Arrive from 6:30 pm to mingle, enjoy light refreshments, and explore the Festival of Architecture & Design Awards exhibition, before the concert begins at 7 pm. The Alma Moodie Quartet brings together some of Australia's leading string soloists: Kristian Winther, Anna da Silva Chen (violins), James Wannan (viola) and Miles Mullins-Chivers (cello) to perform:

ABOUT THE ALMA MOODIE QUARTET

Named after the remarkable Australian violinist of the early 20th century, the Alma Moodie Quartet shares the dedication to the music their namesake championed, from Beethoven and Mozart to the neglected music of the early twentieth century.

The Quartet enjoy performing at some of Australia’s most prestigious platforms, including the Canberra International Music Festival, Tasmanian Chamber Music Festival, Hayllar’s Beethoven Festival, Hayes St Studio series, Mesh, Elder Hall, and various regional centres. Recent season

Highlights include Musica Viva’s Morning Concerts and outdoor concert series at Barangaroo, the Tasmanian Chamber Music Festival, Phoenix Central Park’s Church series, their debut at the Melbourne Recital Centre, and their own series in Canberra, with guest artists Daniel de Borah, Edward Neeman, and Olivia Hans-Rosenbaum.

ABOUT THE VENUE

This concert takes place amidst 'Recollections' an art exhibition curated by Alinta Maguire and Louise Brand which includes "every bark painting from the First Nations collection of Wollongong Art Gallery... It is a powerful gathering of Ancestral beings, totems and narratives. Connections span Communities across West, Central and East Arnhem Land, Groote Eylandt and the Tiwi Islands, reflecting the dynamic patterns and innovations of bark painting practices across Country in the Northern Territory.

We show our respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Dharawal Country, Elders past and present, and extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
