Ikebana Workshop at Eryldene
Event description
About the Workshop
The Ikebana Workshop is being run during History Week 2025 and links into the theme of Water Stories, and will be held in the peaceful and beautiful setting of Eryldene on Saturday 13th September between 10am and 1pm. This is a special opportunity for aspiring florists and people interested in Japanese culture.
Learn the history and some of the fundamental techniques of this classical Japanese art form and create your own Ikebana floral arrangement to take home.
We are excited to welcome back Jenny Goodwin, a former President of Ikebana International Sydney Chapter, to lead the class. Jenny brings more than 50 years' experience teaching and exhibiting Ikebana.
There is a limit of 10 people to enable personal attention and feedback. Fresh flowers, foliage, and an Ikebana container will be provided. You will also have the use of a kenzan, a traditional Japanese spiked flower holder, for the workshop. Kenzans will be available to purchase ($25 each).
Participants will also be treated to a lovely, homemade morning tea and a tour of the house where Ikebana floral arrangements will be on display.
At the end of the class, participants are welcome to stroll through Eryldene's gardens.
Cost:
$100 (cost of materials, tour and morning tea). Eryldene Members receive a 10% discount.
Note:
The Ikebana workshop is limited to 10 people, so be sure to book your ticket early.
